Wolfertz GMBH signs My Father and Tatuaje. Earlier this year, the Nicaraguan cigar brand broke ties with their long-time distributor in Germany, Fernandez Mendoza Cigars. And with them, Tatuaje broke ties with the German distributor as well. But now there is good news, both brands will be represented by Wolfertz GMBH real soon.
At the intertabac trade show, Pete Johnson mentioned that My Father Cigars and Tatuaje were no longer partnered with Fernandez Mendoza Cigars. At that moment, both companies hadn’t signed a new distribution agreement for Germany yet. Johnson mentioned that several distributors showed interest in representing both My Father Cigars and Tatuaje. The brands are well known, and well-received, in Germany. And have been on the German market for approximately a decade.
Out of all the distributors, the Garcia family and Johnson liked what Wolfertz GMBH had to offer best. Wolfertz GMBH is located in Solingen and celebrated its 100th anniversary earlier this year. The third generation, Thorsten Wolfertz, is running the company now. His grandfather started the company as an accessory manufacturer. And Wolfertz is still making accessories, but under the leadership of Thorsten, the company became a premium cigar distributor as well.
Wolfertz is distributing a number of brands on the German market, but the company takes a slow approach. They really build a brand before adding a new brand to the portfolio. Currently, they distribute Oliva, Plasencia, Alec Bradley, A.J. Fernandez, Caldwell Cigars, Condega, La Sagrada Familia, and DH Boutique cigars. Earlier this year, they launched Barrio Viejo, their own private label.
Next to distributing cigars, Wolfertz is also the distributor for Xikar in Germany, together with Donatus and their own Wolf brand. The company also distributes CigarRon, rum liqueur in five different flavors. And they act as the international warehouse for Alec Bradley Cigars. My Father Cigars and Tatuaje have an international warehouse in The Netherlands, which was opened earlier this year.
