VegaFina pays tribute to the Dominican tobacco identity with Andullo, a cigar hand-made with tobacco leaves which have been fermented following one of the oldest curing techniques of the Caribbean country. Last week, we published that the VegaFina Fortaleza 2 Andullo is coming to Germany. But now we have confirmation that the cigars are going to be introduced in Spain as well.

In this process, the tobacco leaves achieve an optimal fermentation by being wrapped in dry “yagua” leaves forming a roll (the “andullo”) which is tied with ropes. After undoing the andullo, the tobacco goes through an aging process that ends up giving it its peculiar sweet nuances and complexity. The result is a mild-to-medium strength cigar that stands out for its notes of nuts and its subtle sweet nuances that develop during the smoke.

Packaging and technical information

VegaFina Fortaleza 2 Andullo is presented in a wrapped box of 10 cigars which has been designed including an original drawing that shows the curing process that gives name to the special edition. The chosen vitola is a Magnum (5.4-inch x 54 ring gauge), a format that is not present in the brand’s standard portfolio. It is a limited edition, and only limited quantities are released.

According to the tasting card included in the press release, this cigar is mild to medium. The aroma is woody with notes of cedar, leather, and almonds. The taste is roasted and mineral. There are hints of nuts and sweet nuances. Since the cigar is brand new, there aren’t any reviews online, and due to the coronavirus pandemic, no samplers can be secured. We can’t test if the tasting card is correct, but we hope to be able to review the cigar later this year.
