Spain gets a new Sevilla series. That’s a series of vintage Cuban cigars in beautiful ceramic jars. It sounds similar to the Vintage Collecion but its a new and different series. The Vintage Collecion comes in blue and white jars. The Sevilla series comes in white and red jars.
Habanos distributor Tabacalera S.L.U. confirmed that the jars are available at tobacconists all over Spain this week. The cigars are a minimum of eight years old. The production date is pre 2012. The cigars in this 5th installment of the Sevilla series are Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills. These 4⅞x50 Robusto are on the market since 2006. That means that the cigars are between 8 and 14 years old. The cigars all feature a secondary ring showing the Sevilla series.
Spain is the only country who gets a new Sevilla series. All Sevilla series releases are exclusive to the Spanish market. This year’s release is 2000 jars. The jars are English earthenware from La Cartuja de Sevilla. The company is a producer of English earthenware and has a long history with Cuban cigars. In the first half of the 20th century, the company produced jars for Partagas and Ramon Allones. The Sevilla series Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill jar is inspired by those original jars.
The price of a jar, filled with 19 vintage Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills, is 311.60 euros. It’s not the first time this specific cigar comes in a jar. In 2010, a limited-edition jar was released. That was, however, not a vintage-looking jar. The five previous Sevilla series include Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial. Another release featured the H. Upmann Magnum 50. The Montecristo #3 is also used for the Sevilla series, just as the Partagas Series P #2.
