San Pedro de Macoris will be available soon in Hungary. Local distributors TTI and Royal Agio partnered up for the local Hungarian market. They will introduce Agio’s tribute to their Dominican rollers in The Eastern European country soon.
Royal Agio has a factory on the Dominican Republic, Agio Caribbean Cigar Factory. That factory is located in the town of San Pedro de Macoris. And two years ago, Royal Agio decided to pay homage to the factory workers by creating a brand named after the town. The initial release was two blends, yet a third and fourth have been released in the United States. The San Pedro de Macoris Nicaragua and Sun Grown.
San Pedro de Macoris
The San Pedro de Macoris Brazil is made from Brazilian Mata Fina and Dominican Olor and Piloto Ligero tobacco as filler. The binder is a Dominican Olor. The wrapper is Arapiraca from Brazil, as the name of the line suggests.
The San Pedro de Macoris Ecuador utilizes the same filler and binder. The wrapper, however, is a Connecticut Shade from Ecuador. Because of the wrapper, this blend is smoother and milder than the Brazil blend. The Brazil blend has more sweetness and strength.
Both lines come in three sizes. San Pedro de Macorís Perla 4⅛x40, San Pedro de Macorís Corona 5⅞x42 and San Pedro de Macorís Robusto 5⅛x52.
Tobacco Trading International
The local distributor, Tobacco Trading International, is part of the German-based Pöschl Tobacco. Pöschl Tobacco is a manufacturer of snuff, cigarette tobacco, and roll-your-own tobacco. The company was founded in 1902. The third generation of the family-owned company branched out into international tobacco trading. They import and distribute all kinds of tobacco products, including premium cigars, in several European countries, including Hungary.
Royal Agio is also a family owned business with more than a century of experience. Both as a cigar manufacturer in Europe and the Dominican Republic. The last few years, Royal Agio also entered the world of the importing and distributing of other bands. In The Netherlands and Germany, the company is responsible for Drew Estate and La Flor Dominicana. And in the Benelux, Royal Agio branched out to pipe tobacco as well.
