Quai d’Orsay Baalbeck introduced by Phoenicia. That will happen tomorrow. The same goes for the release of the Phoenicia 40th anniversary cigars. It was supposed to happen at an event in Beirut. But the event is cancelled due to protests in Libanon.
The Quai d’Orsay Baalbeck will be an Exclusivo Libano. So it will carry the famous exclusivo secondary ring. It’s a Duke, which means 5½x54 in size. What might interest the collectors of Cuban cigars is the packaging. The cigars will be offered in 50 count cabinets.
1200 cabinets have been ordered by Phoenicia. Phoenicia is the largest Habanos distributor in the world. Their territory includes large parts of Africa, the Middle East, Greece, and Cyprus. With the packaging, the cigars will be extremely desirable for the collectors of Habanos. Cabinets are considered to be the best packaging for long term aging. Phoenicia did not reveal a real release date, nor a price range for the cigars.
The Duke vitola is been used for several regional editions. But it was first released for the famed Romeo y Julieta Edicion Limitada 2009. The Bolivar Soberanos was the second limited edition in this size. And as regular production, the size is used for the Partagas Serie E No.2. The regional editions for this size are La Gloria Cubana Exclusivo Paises Bajos. Ramon Allones had an Exclusivo Francia in that shape. Medio Oriente had a Saint Luis Rey. And then there is a Punch Duke Exclusivo Mexico as well.
If you look at the release years of the exclusivo range in the Duke size you can see that the vitola is gaining popularity. The releases are all recent, just like the Bolivar Soberanos. It would not surprise Ministry of Cigars if we see more Duke releases in the next few years to come. Not only regional editions, but even regular releases.
