Procigar cancels Procigar Festival 2021. Where Habanos and the Nicaraguan Tobacco Chamber already canceled the Habanos Festival and Puro Sabor, Procigar was still hoping to be able to host the Procigar Festival 2021. That’s why the association of Dominican Cigar Manufacturers decided to postpone the festival. But now the festival is canceled after all.

Hendrik Kelner, President of Procigar, says: “We have made the difficult decision to cancel our Procigar Festival 2021. We know that this decision is disappointing, but we hope that everyone can understand that right now our priority is to keep the collaborators and participants of the event safe”.

ProCigar 2022

The organization is now working on the Procigar Festival 2022. That should take place from February 20 to 25, 2022 in the Dominican Republic. But the organization depends on the handling of the covid-19 pandemic and if the world is safe to travel by then.

For the last 13 years, Procigar hosted the Procigar festival with factory visits, seminars, dinners, and parties. It is the perfect way for cigar enthusiasts, retailers, and distributors to tour fields and factories. To learn more about tobacco cultivation, cigar blending, and rolling. And it’s also a great way to meet and chat with many of the famous cigar manufacturers from the Dominican Republic.

Members

Not every cigar manufacturer can join Procigar. It is a select group of manufacturers that uphold certain quality and ethical standards. Becoming a member is by invite only. The organization is around since 1992 when a few manufacturers joined forces to defend, protect, and divulge the good name of the land of Cigar Country.

The current members are General Cigars Dominicana, Tabacalera de Garcia, La Aurora, Quesada Cigars, Tabadom (Davidoff), De Los Reyes, Tabacalera A Fuente, Tabacalera La Alianza, La Flor Dominicana, Tabacalera Palma, and PDR Cigars.

Procigar also runs the charity “a home for my family“.
