More walking for Pronica. After the sponsor run in Rotterdam last week, Run 4 Pronica, another initiative has been announced. Earlier this week, Pronica revealed a $ 35.000 goal for 2018.

This time it’s not a sponsored run, but a three-month adventure. Dutch cigar aficionado Rinse van Gans has taken three months off to walk from his hometown Goutum in Northern Netherlands to Rome, Italy. The trip, over 2750km long, will take Van Gans through The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. You can follow his adventures on his website (Dutch only).

Van Gans is using his epic hike to raise money for two good causes. The first cause if the Dutch Cancer Society. The second one is Pronica. If you make a nice donation, Van Gans is willing to do something in return. But it has to be something in good taste is his requirement. Donations can be made to CH van der Weij NL85INGB0652109799 under mentioning of Pronica.

Pronica

Pronica is a foundation started by Sasja Van Horssen from Longfiller Company, Van Dalen Cigars, and Cigaragua. But the foundation is also supported by Royal Agio, J Cortes (Belgium), Leaf Masters (Dubai) and other generous donations.

Van Horssen is using his importer status to fund the charity. For each Nicaraguan cigar his company distributes, he is donating ten dollar cents to the foundation. And the funds are used to provide education for the poor children in Estelí, Nicaragua.

The supported school is Fe Y Alegria. Joya de Nicaragua is also a sponsor of the school. And the British journalist and writer Nick Hammond is donating 10 percent of the earnings of his book, Around The Works In 80 Cigars, to the school too. That book, which will be released in September 2019, can be preordered on www.nick-hammond.com
