Mbombay is coming to New Zealand. The Costa Rican cigars will be imported by Canteros. Canteros owner Grant Ovenden confirmed that to Ministry of Cigars.

MBombay is the brand from Bombay Tobak. The company is owned by Mel Shaw. Shaw is an IT professional turned cigar retailer. Shah went to Costa Rica to create a private blend. He did this for his Fame Wine & Cigar Lounge in Palm Springs in California.

With MBombay he tries to emulate the fabled cigar culture of Cuba. Tobaccos are carefully selected, processed and aged. Then very experienced master rollers create the cigars. The cigars became so popular that Shah made them available for others as well. And with success, his cigars are rated highly amongst cigar smokers. International distribution is the next step. And by exporting to New Zealand, MBombay takes that first step.

MBombay has several different blends. All the names are connected to Shah’s Indian heritage. Shah has Indian roots. Just like Rocky Patel and Kaizad Hantosia. Hantosia is the owner of Gurkha cigars.

Besides the new brands, the company has also expanded its portfolio for Alec Bradley, Illusione, Joya de Nicaragua and Drew Estate. They also added the Select Draw Cigar Cutter to the accessories line-up.
