La Casa del Tabaco Antwerp opens its doors. The power couple Dominique Gyselinck and Frederic Dechamps already own several cigar shops all over the kingdom of Belgium. Yet not in the largest city of the country, Antwerp. But that is changing today, with the opening of La Casa del Tabaco Antwerpen.
It’s the latest addition to the family, with elder siblings in Brugges, Hasselt, Knokke, Ghent, Ukkel, Latem, Sint Martens, and Kortrijk. The retail outlets in Knokke and Ghent are full-blown La Casa del Habano franchises. The other stores, under the La Casa del Tabaco name, sell premium handmade cigars from Nicaragua, Honduras, and Costa Rica as well. And dry-cured shortfillers from Belgium and The Netherlands. Plus the LCDT Sensor which we reviewed earlier this year.
In a conversation with Ministry of Cigars, Gyselinck explained that the new shop won’t have a cigar lounge. She is afraid that the Belgian government will follow the neighbor on the north. The government of The Netherlands decided recently that all lounges are prohibited in 2022. Therefore it would be a loss of money to invest in a cigar lounge at the new location. Which is a shame, as Antwerp could use a great cigar lounge.
The new shop is located at Hopland 44 in Antwerp. Tonight there will be a grand opening which invites only. The shop opens its doors tomorrow for the general public. The opening hours are Monday to Saturday, from 10:30 am till 6 pm. On Sunday and public holidays, the shop will be closed.
