In an emotional Facebook message, Jessi Flores announced his departure from Drew Estate and Subculture Studios.
Flores has been with the company for twenty years, after initially being hired by Jonathan Drew at a gas station, where they met, in Nicaragua as an interpreter. Once Drew saw Jessi’s sketches a few days later, he asked him to be part of the Drew Estate family and the rest is history.
Flores and his collective of Nicaraguan artists have made an incredible mark on the company with amazing creativity, setting the company apart from all others with urban art, unique designs, and unlimited creativity.
Here’s Jessi’s Facebook message:
Hey everyone. Got some big news!
After 20 amazing years at Drew Estate, I’ve decided to leave the company in order to focus on new business ventures. This has been an incredibly challenging decision as I’m so proud of what I created with and contributed to Drew Estate. So many great artists have come through the hallways of Subculture Studios and have grown as artists, employees, and friends. I’m very proud of my years of dedication and contributions to Subculture Studios. Having personally worked with and trained the artists at Subculture Studios, I know Subculture will be in great hands with the leadership of Richard “DOG “ Diaz and Marvin Montoya, who along with the rest of the crew will continue to innovate and design beautiful art at Drew Estate.
After giving it so much of my focus for so many years, I have been feeling the need to expand my creativity into new business ventures, and I know that now is the right time for me to make the leap. To all of you who have supported my art throughout the years, I send you a deep, heartfelt thank you.
Please stay tuned through my social media as I reveal the next steps in my journey. Sending much love to all of my friends at Drew Estate.
We wish Jessi the best in his future endeavors, we have no doubt that a creative and talented artist like him will flourish.
