Habanos rereleases Trinidad Robusto Extra. But not as regular production, unfortunately. The vitola isn’t part of the Habanos portfolio since 2012. But it will return soon as a limited edition for the travel and duty-free locations all around the world. With the exception of the United States that is, due to the embargo.
Habanos revealed the news during the Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo. Cubatabaco and Habanos are making 10.000 travel humidors containing 14 cigars each. The Trinidad Robusto Extra measures 6⅛x50 and in the New World classifications, it is seen as a toro.
Travel Retail Expo
Each year travel retailers, press, and companies gather in Cannes at the Travel Retail Expo. But due to Covid-19 this year the expo is all virtual. During the expo, manufacturers and companies show new releases and products to be sold at travel retail shops and duty-free around the world.
This year the event is virtual. It started on October 12th and will end on October 16th. Manufacturers have virtual booths where attendees can gather information. Just like any other year, Habanos takes the opportunity to launch a new product for the travel retail and duty-free at the expo.
The Trinidad brand exists since 1969 but is commercially available since 1997. Before 1997 it was a diplomatic gift from the Cuban government. With that, it shares the history and a resemblance with Cohiba. The brand is highly regarded amongst collectors and fans of Cuban cigars.
The brand gets its name from the 16th Century city of La Santisima Trinidad (The Holy Trinity). t is not related to a pre-revolution Trinidad brand. That brand ceased to exist in 1958.
