Episode 28: The Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show. Philip & Ferdy met up with their friend Joseph. Joseph is an alcohol distributor and brought a bottle of Bumbu rum. Bumbu is a rum from Barbados. Joseph brought the Bumbu XO in the black bottle. The Bumbu XO is aged up to 18 years. In bourbon barrels and finished in Spanish white oak sherry casks. Distillation and aging take place in Panama. But since it is the Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show, let’s focus on the cigar.
Tabacalera El Artista
The pairing of the Bumbu XO is with the Cimarron Connecticut Robusto. Cimarron is a brand from Tabacalera El Artista. During a zoom, Ram Rodriguez from El Artista says that this cigar is best paired with rum. So we do. It’s no secret that Ferdy is not a fan of Connecticut Shade wrappers. Joseph isn’t a fan either. So will this pairing be a success?
Some of the topics that are discussed in this episode are the best way to light cigars. The brand new Buffalo Ten Natural from Tabacalera El Artista gets a mention. Of course, there is a review of Cimarron Connecticut on Ministry of Cigars. And a review of the Buffalo Ten Maduro. Philip refers to Havana Club rum. In Episode 26 of the Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show, we drank Havana Club. Ferdy makes fun of Joseph’s Gurkha glass and refers to the trouble Kaizad Hansotia got himself into. The trouble that results in resignation. And eventually the sale of his shares in Gurkha Cigars.
The Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show airs on the Ministry of Cigars Facebook page every other Friday at 3 PM SGT, or UTC +8. But the videos are available to see after that as well.
