Dunbarton creates Mi Querida Triqui Traca Short Robusto. Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust founder Steve Saka published a photo on social media. With the words “Ok… pulled the trigger today and we began crafting the “new” Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 448 – so I got you DTT Firecracker heathens covered. Who says I don’t care?”

With that, Dunbarton Tobacco gives in to the people begging for a re-release of the Mi Querida Firecracker. That cigar is a 2 guys Smoke Shop exclusive Edicion Limitada from 2018. And it’s the reason why the Mi Querida Triqui Traca ever came into play. Each year, 2 Guys Smoke Shop, released a Firecracker cigar from a different manufacturer. The cigars are short Robusto cigars, 3½x50, with a long pigtail making the cigars look like firecrackers with a long flint.

When Dunbarton was asked to create the 2018 Firecracker, Saka went to work. As with every vitola and store exclusive, he tweaked the blend to fit the theme and vitola. For the Mi Querida firecracker, it meant an amped-up blend. A blend later released as the second Mi Querida blend, the Mi Querida Triqui Traca. But out of respect for 2 Guys Smoke Shop owner David Garofalo, Saka says he will never release a 3½x50 version of this cigar. Dunbarton did re-release the Mi Querida Firecracker as a 2 Guys Smoke Shop exclusive in 2019 and 2020.

Short Robusto

Instead, after three years of constant begging by cigar enthusiasts and Dunbarton fans, Saka gives in. He is creating a Mi Querida Triqui Traca Short Robusto. Not in the 3½x50 Firecracker size, but close with a 4×48 vitola. The cigar won’t have the flint-like pigtail.

The Mi Querida Triqui Traca is made with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The binder is Nicaraguan and the filler is Nicaraguan with some added Dominican Ligero. It is a heavier version of the Mi Querida, the binder of the original Mi Querida is part of the filler of the Mi Querida Triqui Traca.

With the new Mi Querida Triqui Traca, which is expected in the 4th quarter of the year, the line will have five regular production sizes. The others are the Mi Querida Triqui Traca 552 (5×52 Robusto), 648 (6×48 Toro), 652 (6×52 Toro), and the 764 (7×64 Gordo).
