Davidoff releases a new limited cigar line. And this time it celebrates the Dominican culture and lifestyle. The Dominican Republic is where Davidoff found its home in 1990 after a dispute with Cubatabaco. During the first 22 years of Davidoff Cigars, the brand was made in Cuba. But in 1989 Zino Davidoff publicly burned over a hundred thousand cigars. Zino Davidoff found these cigars to be of too low a quality to bear his name. The final result was the termination of the relationship with Cuba. And in Henke Kelner’s Tabadom, Davidoff found a new partner. In a later stage, Davidoff bought Tabadom, but Henke Kelner is still the master blender and the captain of the ship.
The new Dominicana cigar line is Davidoff’s celebration of its Dominican home for over 30 years. This cigar consists of vintage tobaccos and is made by the best craftsmen that Davidoff has. The Davidoff master blenders created a complex blend with the vintage tobacco from the Davidoff vault. The filler is a mixture of five different Dominican tobaccos with an Ecuadorian binder. The wrapper is Dominican Yamasa.
The fillers are corojo 99 seco, pilot viso, San Vicente mejorado seco, San Vicente seco, and Yamasá viso. The binder and wrapper are hybrid tobaccos. Hybrid 151 from Ecuador and hybrid 257 from the Dominican Republic. All the tobaccos are from the 2014 crop. And the cigars have been aging for a year since the date of production.
The full-bodied cigars will come in boxes of ten cigars. Wooden boxes with a vintage sticker to accentuate the vintage tobacco. The sizes are Davidoff Dominicana Short Robusto with a 4×50 size. The Davidoff Dominicana Robusto measures 5⅛ x52. And the largest cigar is the 6×54 Davidoff Dominicana Toro. This is a global release, coming to retailers worldwide soon. Davidoff did not disclose how many boxes are available.
