Kuala Lumpur has a lot of cigar lounges and cigar friendly bars. Those are mainly found in the bigger hotels. The bar of the J.W. Marriot hotel, J.W. Firehouse, is one of those smoke-friendly bars. Yet it couldn’t be considered a true cigar bar. However, that is about to change.

Cigar Emperor is the distributor of Oscar Valladares, Davtian Cigars, Jas Sum Kral Cigars, Blanco Cigars amongst others. They have signed a partnership agreement with J.W. Marriot. Together they will slowly implement some changes to turn the Firehouse into a real cigar bar.

The spacious bar, in the basement of the hotel, has no cigar vibe yet. Loud, upbeat music, no cigar related decorations but that’s all about to change according to Cigar Emperor’s Matthew T. Nekvapil. The playlists will be more mellow, the walls will be decorated with cigar related art yet without changing too much of the current luxurious feel of the bar.

One change has already been made, a cabinet humidor has been installed with a selection of cigars that can be bought on the spot. Yet, outside cigars are still allowed without cutting fee. More changes are about to come, yet Nekvapil would not comment on what’s to come, as he yet has to finalise the plans before announcing them to the world. One thing that Nekvapil did mention is that the humidor will have a selection of special Arturo Fuente Opus X cigars.

The partnership is brand new, it will take a few weeks to see the changes in full effect but it promises to be another cool hangout for cigar aficionados in Kuala Lumpur. Including Cigar Emperor Cigar Events such as cigar dinners, blind smokes and launching events for brands that the company is distributing in South East Asia. The bar opens at 4pm daily.
