Balmoral Añejo XO Lancero FT127 are now available in New Zealand. Back in 2016, Royal Agio launched the Balmoral Añejo XO in a lancero size. It was a limited edition. And the feedback the company got was amazing. The cigars were raved about and sold out in a heartbeat.
A few months ago, Royal Agio announced that they would re-release the Balmoral Añejo XO Lancero FT127. Again as a limited edition, but unfortunately only on the American market. Yet somehow, Canteros managed to get a few boxes for a New Zealand release.
Grant Ovenden, owner of Canteros told Ministry of Cigars that this release is a trial run. Balmoral isn’t been distributed down under yet. But if the feedback from the kiwi cigar aficionados is good Canteros will start importing the brand.
Royal Agio was founded in 1904, in The Netherlands. The company is still a family-owned business. Their most famous brands are Balmoral and Meharis. Balmoral is available as a premium handmade cigar as well as machine made cigars. Meharis is all machine made.
The company has several cigar factories around the world. The premium cigars are made in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. Royal Agio has four different lines with that name. This is a tribute to the city and the local Agio employees.
Ministry of Cigars recently reviewed the Balmoral Añejo XO Gran Toro and the Balmoral Dueto Robusto. The Balmoral Dueto is a collaboration with Ernesto Perez Carrillo and is not available on the international markets yet.
Canteros is the sole importer and distributor of new world cigars in New Zealand. Besides brands as Alec Bradley, Drew Estate, Casa Cuevas, Kafie Cigars, Viajante, Dunbarton, Joya de Nicaragua, and others, the company is also the exclusive importer for Boveda, Xikar, and Select Draw Cigar Cutters.
